PREPARING FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT
Here are some tips and tricks to help you best prepare for your tattoo appointment, and also to take care of it after it has been done.
Tips for your appointment
The day before the appointment
If you want your session to go as smoothly as possible, you can read the tips below:
Get plenty of rest the day before your appointment.
Eat something before your session to be as alert as possible. You can, of course, bring something to eat and drink for your appointment. A refrigerator and microwave are available if needed.
Make sure you're well hydrated before your appointment.
Do not drink alcohol the day before or before your session.
Do not take drugs the day before or before the session
If you are undergoing any specific medical treatment , please mention it to me before booking your appointment so we can see if it is compatible with getting a tattoo.
If you wish, you can moisturize the area . Get the tattoo done a week in advance; this will make my job easier.
The day of the appointment
Prepare an appropriate outfit for getting your tattoo (e.g., if it's on your thigh, wear shorts).
Prefer black clothing; tattoo ink and some other products used can stain fabric.
You can come accompanied by a maximum of 1 person
CARE SHEET
Vaseline + Cellophane Dressing
Skincare routine
If you have a Vaseline and cellophane type dressing, here are some tips to apply:
Do not leave the dressing on for more than 3 hours (4 hours maximum).
After removing it, rinse your tattoo with lukewarm water. Clean it with a pH-neutral soap, then dry the tattoo with a piece of paper towel or a clean handkerchief (never with your bath towel).
For the first and second nights : Before going to bed, I advise you to either re-pack your tattoo or sleep in clothes that will cover it to avoid staining your bed sheets (so black clothes are preferable).
Wash your tattoo as instructed above at least twice a day
After 4 days , or when your tattoo starts to itch, you can apply healing cream after washing it (never apply cream until the tattoo is clean and dry!). For the cream, you can use either coconut oil, shea butter (in both cases, be careful of allergies), or Cicaplast.
Advice
The following points should be applied during the healing period of your tattoo (minimum 4 weeks):
Avoid all sporting activity for 1 week . If you practice sports with a risk of contact (combat sports, skateboarding, etc.), avoid them for 3 weeks .
You are the only one who knows how to keep your hands clean, so don't let anyone else touch them.
Avoid contact with animal hair
Don't expose yourself to the sun
Do not immerse your tattoo in water (swimming pool, seawater, bath)
Sauna, steam room, and UV tanning sessions are to be avoided.
Let your tattoo breathe as much as possible; avoid synthetic clothing.
Don't scratch your tattoo
Second-skin dressing / Dermalize
Routine with the film
If you have a second-skin type dressing (Dermalize), here are some tips to follow:
The bandage cannot remain in place for more than 5 days. However, you can remove it sooner if there is a problem.
You can wash with the protective film on.
If you experience any discomfort with this type of bandage, feel free to remove it.
If you notice your skin turning red around the film and spreading towards the edges, it means you're having an allergic reaction or your skin isn't breathing properly. In that case, remove the film.
If you see any liquid coming out of the film (ink, blood, lymph, etc.), you must remove it.
If you see water seeping under the film while showering, you must remove it.
Don't worry if the color of the liquid under the film is brown/black, that's normal.
To remove the film : get in the shower with lukewarm water, pull on the film by pinching it in the middle and pulling perpendicularly to your body initially to slightly detach it from your skin. Then pull parallel to it to remove it.
If the film peels off before the first night: remove it as mentioned above, then I advise you to either re-wrap it or sleep in clothes that will cover it to avoid staining your bed sheets (so black clothes are preferable).
Routine after removing the film
After removing it, rinse your tattoo with lukewarm water. Clean it with a pH-neutral soap, then dry the tattoo with a piece of paper towel or a clean handkerchief (never with your bath towel). Wash your tattoo this way at least twice a day.
If your tattoo starts to itch, you can apply healing cream after washing it (never apply cream until the tattoo is clean and dry!). For the cream, you can use either coconut oil, shea butter (in both cases, be careful of allergies), or Cicaplast.
